Alice F. Holly

Alice F. Holly, age 89, of Oxford, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at CT Hospice with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Paul S. Holly. 

Mrs. Holly was born in Shelton, on December 26, 1924 daughter of the late Omer and Florence (Hill) Fortier. She spent most of her life living in Shelton until moving to Florida for 25 years. After her retirement she moved to Oxford. She was a graduate of Shelton High School.

In 1945, she started her nursing career as a Registered Nurse at Griffin Hospital. She was the School Nurse at Shelton High School in the 1970’s, later, she became the Assistant Director of Nurses at The Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Florida until her retirement in 2007. Alice volunteered at the Spooner House. She enjoyed word puzzles and was known for her avid knitting. Mrs. Holly knitted shawls and hats for newborn infants at the hospital. 

She is the beloved mother of Paul Holly and his wife Sharon Ritton-Holly and Linda Tottenham and her husband David and sister of Omer Fortier. Mrs. Holly is the loving grandmother of Jamie-Lyn Drezek and her husband Craig, Jessica Flanagan and her husband Michael, and Matthew and Ryan Tottenham, and great grandmother of Alexandra, Sydnie, Kiley, Ella, Caden, Brenna, Colbie, Jayden and Colin. She is the step-grandmother of Keith Tottenham and his wife Abby and their children Edyn and Alexander, Christopher Ritton-Stokes and his husband Michael, and Joshua Ritton and his wife Heidi. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Holly is predeceased by a daughter-in-law Sharon Bryce Holly, a son-in-law Angelo Faccento, and a grandson, Christopher Tottenham. 

Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Saturday, her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church. Her burial will be in the spring at Riverside Cemetery.
