Allen W. Bunting Sr., age 91, a lifelong Seymour resident, beloved husband of the late Sara McLaughlin McCuster Bunting, passed away peacefully at Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born in Ansonia ,CT on April 19,1924 the loving son of the late Arthur W. and Eleanor Scott Bunting.
Allen graduated from Seymour High School. He was a member of the Seymour Congregational Church and Citizens Engine Co. He served with pride and honor in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a longtime member and past Master of the Morning Star Lodge#47 AF &AM . Allen co-owned Bunting’s Express with his late brother Charles. He also worked for Farrell’s Corporation in his earlier years. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress and was league champion from 1964-1965. Allen enjoyed woodworking and his flower garden. But most of all he loved spending time at his home on Candlewood Lake which he considered his heart. Allen will be sadly missed by all and will be forever in our hearts.
Allen’s loving family includes, his devoted companion Ann K. Ajello of Seymour, a loving nephew Charles Bunting Jr. and his wife Barbara of Bethany, a caring niece Linda Thompson and her husband William of Virginia, a caring sister-in-law Janet Kopec of Seymour, as well as several other caring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two loving sons Allen W. Bunting Jr. and Gary S. Bunting , his caring brother Charles Bunting Sr. and two caring sisters Eleanor and Lorraine.
A Funeral Service in Celebration of Allen’s life will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 11:30 am in the Chapel of The Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Rte. 67 across from Klarides Village), Seymour, CT with Reverend Allyson Glass, Pastor of Seymour Congregational Church officiating. Interment in the family plot in Northwest Cemetery, Woodbridge will follow. Friends and relatives may call the funeral home Thursday morning from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. A Masonic service will be held Thursday, morning at 11:00 am.
