Angela Eager, age 78, of Milford, peacefully entered into rest on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Milford Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Laura Newman, and her husband Christopher J. Newman of Shelton, her son Joseph Altman, and his wife Tara Altman of Stratford, and her grandchildren, Jacob Newman, Joseph J. Altman and Diana Altman. Angela was a devoted wife to the late William J. Eager Jr. and loving sister to the late Amelia MacDonald of Arizona. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Maria Hanson, William MacDonald Jr. and Michael MacDonald of Arizona, and Rebecca Dominguez of California, as well as several cousins in New York and North Carolina.
Angela was born in Potenza, Italy on February 18, 1945, daughter of the late Attilio and Teresa (Petolino) Saltarelli. She moved to the United States in 1954 and grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she attended Eastern District High School. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Joseph L. Altman, in 1965 and eventually moved to Connecticut with her mother and children.
Angela will always be remembered for her sweet and kind heart, gentle nature, sense of humor and strong pride in her Italian heritage. She was a naturally skilled artist who painted and sketched in her younger days, loved music and adored cats. She was passionate about Italian traditions and food and had a deep affection for America, always sharing fond memories of her experience coming to the states, spending time at Coney Island, and her Brooklyn neighborhood.
The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton has been entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
Friends are invited to her memorial service on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton CT 06484. Friends may greet the family at church from 10:30 AM until time of service.
