Ann Carol Donofrio Hemenway, 78, passed away unexpectedly on July 15,2021. Born on January 16,1943 at Griffin Hospital, she was a lifelong resident of Ansonia, CT.
She was a kind, loving soul whose greatest passion was her family. She enjoyed spending time with them, cooking for them, showing them how to perfect family recipes and being involved in their activities. She always enjoyed a day at the casino, a lunch date or a game of bingo with her friends. Her carefree and loving presence will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Her creativity and love to teach others was evident through her career as a hairdresser, a teacher at the National Academy of Cosmetology of Hairdressing formerly in Ansonia and later as a salon owner before her retirement.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Anna (Gabianelli) and Nicholas Donofrio, her brothers, Nick (Katherine) and Phil and sister, Marie Meginis and her beloved daughter, Annmarie Piccolo. She leaves behind Thomas (Tim) Hemenway Sr., sister, Donna Treacy, her children, Karen Hemenway, Thomas and Shelley Hemenway Jr., Christine Hemenway and Franklin Griffin, Jason Hemenway, her grandchildren, Alex and Clarissa Piccolo, Sterling Griffin, Thomas Hemenway, III, many nieces and nephews, and cousins all of whom she loved dearly. Her carefree, loving presence will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held on July 31 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment will follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life.
