Ann (Dorso) Stanley, age 93, of Derby, entered into eternal rest on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin D. Stanley.
Born on September 16, 1931, Ann was the daughter of the late Angelo and Felicia (Vaccaro) Cusano, as well as her birth parents, the late Anna (Vaccaro) Dorso and John J. Dorso. A lifelong resident of Derby, Ann remained deeply connected to her community and her faith throughout her life.
A proud graduate of Derby High School, Class of 1950, Ann went on to work at Sikorsky Aircraft in her early twenties before dedicating over 40 years of service to St. Mary Church. She cherished her church family and was known for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. As a devout Catholic, her commitment to her church and community was a constant source of inspiration. Ann’s greatest joy, however, was her family, whom she loved unconditionally.
In addition to her service at the church, Ann was a dedicated member of the Ladies Guild and the church choir, sharing her love for music with others through her singing. She also served as a former Girl Scout leader, instilling a sense of community and mentorship in the young girls she led. Beyond her commitments, Ann found joy in being an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team.
Ann will always be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the deep love she held for her family and friends. Her legacy of faith, family, and service will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her loving children, daughter Kathleen Cammisa and her husband Robert, and son Michael Stanley. Ann was a proud grandmother to Robert Joseph Cammisa and his wife Melanie, and Brittany Nicole Bergstrom and her husband Erik. She was a devoted great-grandmother to Bo and Emersyn Bergstrom and was also survived by her brother John Dorso. Ann was predeceased by her stepsister, Angela (Cusano) Hughes, and was a loving godmother to David Hughes. She is also survived by her dear cousins, Josephine (Malafronte) Funaro and Louise (Malafronte) Manfreda
