Anna G. Durante, age 90, of Shelton, entered into rest on Saturday April 23, 2022, in Bishop Wicke Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Pietro Durante. She was born in Ruviano, Italy on April 12, 1932 the daughter of the late Joseph and Rina (Tafi) Geloso.
Mrs. Durante immigrated to the United States from Italy in November of 1966 and settled into the town of Derby before moving her family to Shelton in 1973. She worked as a machine operator at W.E. Bassett for 35 years before retiring. Anna has a passion for cooking and showing her love to everyone with food. She was always known to have something prepared when her family and friends visited, especially her home made bread and the smell of her bolognese sauce on the stove.. She spent weekends cooking for Massaro catering that showcased her talents which has served food to many parties over the years. In her spare time, she liked to watch Italian soap operas and cooking shows on the italian tv station.
She is survived by her children Raffaele Durante (Anna), Filomena Ricciardi, Joseph Durante (Cynthia), and Rina Ciocca (Peter), her grandchildren Pasqualina, Claudia (Victor), Nick (Lauren), Bianca (Mohamed), Luca (Monica), Mario (Janelle), Santino, Peter, Genna, Damian, Makenzie, P.J. and Jake, her great grandchildren Sofia, Mario, Lilianna, Cecilia, Penelope, Lumena, Yusuf, Malik, and Mario, her siblings Elio Geloso, Umberto Geloso, Ugo Geloso and Paola LaVorgna, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Mario and Emilio Geloso.
Friends are invited to greet Mrs. Durante’s family on Wednesday April 27 from 4 to 7 PM in the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St. Derby. On Thursday her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 8:30 AM for her Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Mary Church, 212 Elizabeth St. Derby. Her entombment will follow in Mt.
