Anna Mary Parkins

Anna Mary Parkins, age 91, of Shelton, entered into rest on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Bishop Wicke Health Center. She was the devoted wife of the late Dave Parkins. Anna was born in Waterbury on November 26, 1927, daughter of the late Fred and Susan Anthony, and she was a lifelong Shelton resident.

Anna was selfless and lived only for her children and family. She was most happy surrounded by and cooking for her family and cheering on the UCONN Women’s Huskies basketball team. She also enjoyed her time working at the former Shelton Savings Bank. 

She is the beloved mother of Linda Hvizdo and her late husband Ray, David Parkins and his husband Alan Treiber, Jim Parkins and his wife Elaine Marcucio, and Robert Parkins and his wife Pamela. She also leaves seven cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who will miss their Grammy very much, as well as many nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by three brothers, John, Peter, and George Anthony, and four sisters, Jennie Anthony, Helen Gosain, Eva Macari, and Elizabeth Horan.

On Wednesday, friends may greet the family from 10 to 11 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM. Her burial will be private. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton is entrusted with her arrangements. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides for their compassionate care at Bishop Wicke.
