Annamaria DiStefano, 70, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 4, 2016, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Francesco DiStefano.
Mrs. DiStefano was born in Trapani, Italy on July 19, 1946, daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Gentile Millocca. In 1969, she immigrated to Brooklyn, NY and in 1973 moved to Ansonia. She was employed as a seamstress in Brooklyn and at the former Slim Fit Dress Co. in Shelton and retired from the former Hershey Metal in Ansonia. Annamaria was known as the loving “matriarch” to her family and enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
In addition to her husband Francesco, she is survived by a loving and devoted son, Calogero DiStefano and his wife Kelly of Ansonia, cherished grandson, John DiStefano of Ansonia, brothers, Giovanni Millocca (Josephine) of Flemington, NJ and Francesco Millocca (Maria) of Queens, NY, a sister, Enza Scotto (Domenico) of Sayreville, NJ and many caring nieces and nephews throughout CT, NY and NJ.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2016, from 4 – 8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, her funeral will commence at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Assumption, 61 North Cliff Street in Ansonia. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Mausoleum in Derby.
