Anne M. (Baklik) Zak, age 103, of Shelton entered into rest on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Griffin Hospital with her loving family by her side.
She was the devoted wife of the late Vincent J. Zak, Jr. Anne was born in Derby on March 8, 1918 daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Singer) Baklik. Anne loved her family the most and cherished every minute with them! She loved being a nurse and her long career at Griffin Hospital, she loved volunteering for Griffin Hospital and St. Vincent de Paul,
She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Rosary Society, Shelton Senior Center Knitting Club, Shelton Historical Quilt project, she taught knitting and crocheting to students at Sunnyside School, in Shelton, and crocheting lap blankets for the elderly in convalescent homes, gardening, her roses, garlic plants and raspberries, tag selling, selling vegetables and fruit with her daughter at the Shelton Farmer’s Market, vanilla ice cream, and French vanilla protein drinks, lots of salads, pizza, baking chocolate stained glass marshmallow cookies, plum dumplings, apple strudel and poppy seed rolls, making hundreds of pizzelles, sitting on her swing by the water, sunbathing, wheel of fortune and Jeopardy, and her huge rolling pin and 4 leaf clover collection.
Anne was the beloved mother of Debra Petrushonis (Kenneth) and Linda A. Purcell (John Porter), loving grandmother of Jeffery Purcell, Robin Zak Armstrong (Brian), Karen Zak Getchel (Brendon), VIncent J. Zak IV ( Ann), Nicholas Petrushonis (April), Corrine Petrushonis (Stephanie), Natalie Petrushonis ( Roger) and Patrick Petrushonis (Hui) and great grandmother of Zachary, Clancy (Lauren) and Elliott Purcell, Allison and Daniel Zak and Lucas, Madison and Mason Petrushonis, daughter-in-law, Carole Zak and sister-in-law, Frances Zak. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by a son Vincent J. Zak, III, a brother Edward Baklik, Sr. and five sisters, Antonia Preneta, Mary Flanceski, Lillian Zak, Louise Hardeswick and June Baklik.
A Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Shelton, Ct, April 8th at 10AM for family and friends. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery. Masks and social distancing is required. The Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton has been entrusted with her arrangements.
