Anne M. Blanck, age 95 of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Griffin Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Howard F. Blanck.
Anne was born in Bridgeport June 20, 1926, daughter of the late John and Minnie (Boeckelman) Clancey, and her family moved to Stratford when she was a young girl. Anne graduated from Stratford High School where she played basketball and softball, and while working at Bridgeport Brass Company she played shortstop for the Raybestos Brakettes. After Anne and Howard married, they moved to Shelton in 1953 to their first and only house purchased on a handshake with a $100 deposit where they raised their
6 children with plenty of patience, perseverance, and lots of love and laughter.
Anne was the Parish Secretary at St. Lawrence Church for over 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Lawrence Women’s Club and was active with St. Paul’s Church lunch group. Anne enjoyed spending time with her family, walking, gardening, watching Jeopardy and UCONN Huskies Women’s Basketball, and was a fan of any team that was playing against the Yankees.
She was the beloved mother of James Blanck (Bruce), (Jill Ippoliti), John Blanck (Corie), Joanne Blanck (Geo), Jeffrey Blanck (Janice), Jarett Blanck (Kathy) and mother-in-law of George Ronkowitz. Grandmother to Emily Mullen (Matthew) Joanna Blanck (Erek), Jonathan and Christine Blanck, Lany and David Ronkowitz, Jamie and Jason Blanck, Krista Cattanach (Mark), Kayla Terek (Elliott). Great grandmother to Elizabeth, Sophie, Nolan and Malcolm. Also survived by several nieces and nephews and many longtime friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter Janice Ronkowitz, a brother John H. Clancey and a sister Ruth Reimer.
On Sunday, friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton from 3 to 5 p.m. On Monday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Her interment will follow at Lawn Cemetery.
