Anthony C. Carriero, age 97, of Shelton, entered into rest on Sunday June 2, 2013 in the Hewitt Memorial Hospital. He is the devoted husband of Concetta”Jennie” Viggiano Carriero.
Mr. Carriero was born in Port Chester, NY Jan. 22, 1916 son of the late Samuel, and Anna Rose Carlucci Carriero, and was a Shelton resident for most of his life.
Mr. Carriero was a WWII veteran of the United States Army as a Combat Veteran for the 113th Mechanized Cavalry that was one of the divisions that landed at Normandy on “D” Day June 6th. He also had tours in Germany, France, Holland, and Belgium. For his bravery he was award the Purple Heart.
He worked for many years at Don’s Quality Produce in Bridgeport for many years, Carlon Products in Derby, and enjoyed gardening.
He is the beloved father of Anthony C. Carriero, Jr, Vincent Carriero, and the late Rosann Carriero. He is the cherished grandfather of Megan Carriero, and Christine Dechello, adoring great grandfather of David Adams, and leaves his precious great-great , granddaughter Madison. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three sisters, and three brothers.
