Anthony DiPoalo, Sr., age 83, of Derby, entered into rest on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Griffin Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of 54 years and soulmate of Jo-Ann (Severine) DiPoalo. Anthony was born in Ansonia on March 6, 1929, son of the late Samuel DiPoalo Sr. and Josephine (LaForte) DiPoalo, and he lived in Derby for over 50 years.
He served his country with the US Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Tony’s Cleaning Service until his retirement, and previously worked for BF Goodrich.
Tony was a member of the Derby Lodge of Elks for over 20 years and a member of the Lemko Club. A spirited man with a passion for life, he enjoyed dancing and loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. All that knew him knew that he had a beautiful, cheerful heart.
He is the beloved father of John DiPoalo, Cheryl DiPoalo, and Donna DeRosa and her husband Thomas. He also leaves two brothers, Philip DiPoalo and his wife Marcella and Samuel DiPoalo, Jr. and his wife Millie, a sister, Rose Coccomo and Bruce, two cherished grandchildren, Gianna and Natalie, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, Anthony DiPoalo, Jr. and Robert Michael DiPoalo, a brother, James DiPoalo, and a sister, Josephine Pacella.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. On Wednesday his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Jude Church in Derby. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peters Cemetery.
