He was one of the founding members of Hilltop Hose Co. #5 in Ansonia.
Anthony F. Piampiano, 92, husband of the late Josephine Dobrosky Piampiano, of Ansonia, unexpectedly entered into peaceful rest on Friday morning Oct. 9, 2009.
Mr. Piampiano was born in Bayonne, N.J. on April 1, 1917 son of the late John and Jennie Pedevillano Piampiano.
A resident of Ansonia for most of his life, he was the owner of Anthony F. Piampiano Floor Sanding in the Valley area for many years and later was the co-owner of the Ajello-Piampiano Insurance Agency on Main Street in Ansonia until his retirement in the late 1970s.
A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the 1259 th Engineer Combat Battalion. He was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia and served as Past President of its Catholic Men’s Club. Tony was a charter member and instrumental in the founding of Hilltop Hose Co. #5 in Ansonia and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, bocce, and horseshoes.
He is survived by two sons, Richard A. Piampiano (Patricia) of Ashland, OR and John S. Piampiano (Candice) of Derby, a daughter Barbara P. Dube of Ansonia, three grandchildren, Sandra Piampiano and Eric Piampiano of Seymour and Thomas Dube of Cheshire, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Angelina Giarratano.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral on Monday Oct. 12, 2009 at 9:15am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.
Burial with U.S. Army military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
