Anthony J. Raccio, 85, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on January 25, 2012, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marie J. Antinarella Raccio.
Mr. Raccio was born in Derby on March 6, 1926, son of the late Ralph and Dora Conghero Raccio. A lifelong Valley resident, he was employed as a Foreman of the Testing and Inspection Department at the Kerite Company in Seymour until his retirement. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WW 2. Tony was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, a member of its Catholic Men’s Club, and an usher and greeter at the 9:30 am Mass. He was also a member of the Ansonia and Oxford Senior Centers and enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bocce, and bowling.
In addition to his wife Marie, he is survived by a son, Ralph A. Raccio (Elaine) of Oxford, two daughters, Carol Ann Chevarella (Carmen) of Ansonia and Lynn Marie Raccio of E. Hartford, four cherished grandchildren, Carrie Ann McDougall (William) of Southington, Scott Ballantyne Jr. of Ansonia, Robert Blackwell Jr. of Seymour, and Lisa Hallbach of Southington, seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Caleigh, Cheyenne, Pierce, William, Jack, and Jackson, sisters in law, Marie Raccio of Derby and Tess Raccio of Ansonia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Emil and Philip Raccio.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Saturday January 28, 2012, at 8:15am from the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Interment with U.S. Navy honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on FRIDAY from 4 – 7 pm.
