Gryak, Anthony Joseph, age 70 of Shelton entered into eternal rest with his family by his side on May 16, 2024 at Griffin Hospital from complications due to a short cancer illness. Anthony was the beloved and devoted husband of Linda I. Gryak. Anthony was born on July 28, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Nicholas Gryak and Anna (Napoli) Gryak.
Anthony received his PMP from Villanova University and was employed as a Construction Project Manager for Winstanley Enterprises, LLC. Anthony was hard-working, dedicated, and knowledgeable in all phases of construction and was well regarded in the construction industry. Anthony worked on many large-scale construction projects including projects at Yale, in New Haven, and throughout the US. He previously held positions as VP Operations/Sr. Project Manager of Stretchwall Installations, Inc., as Chief Engineer for the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, Director of Engineering at Hyatt Regency Greenwich, Electrical Project Manager at PEM Electric in New York and also owned his own cabinetmaking company, Grock Enterprises, Inc.
Anthony was also a skilled cabinetmaker and craftsman. His attention to detail and the quality of his work was impeccable.
Anthony enjoyed working, gardening, and cabinet-making. He was a long-time New York Mets fan. Anthony also enjoyed reading novels and was an excellent cook. He loved preparing Italian meals for his family. He also enjoyed traveling around the country to watch his daughter Audrey compete in equestrian competitions. Anthony was most proud of his children’s accomplishments. His three children all received advanced educational degrees, Andrea (MBA), Jonathan (Ph.D.), and Audrey (M.S.)
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife Linda I. Gryak (Fitzsimmons) and his children, Andrea F. Gryak her partner (John) of Bridgeport, CT, Jonathan A. Gryak (Rachel) of Forest Hills, NY and Audrey M. Gryak and her fiancé, (Aj) of Shelton, CT. Anthony is also survived by his sisters Judith Salemme of Milford, CT, Dorothea Gryak of Brooklyn, NY, Gloria Warn of Flanders, NJ, Marian Jacobsen of Staten Island, NY and his brother Nicholas Gryak of Brooklyn, NY. In addition, he is survived by his brother-in-law Robert Fitzsimmons (Vicki) of Shelton and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks are given to the medical staff at Griffin Hospital, the ICU team at Griffin Hospital, Erin McCleod, R.N., Dr. Arole and Dr. Madhu Gowda.
Family and friends may call on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, CT. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial by meeting directly at St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton, CT on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment to follow at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby, CT.
