Anthony “Tony” J. Varrone Jr., age 79, entered into eternal rest on December 16, 2010 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He was the beloved husband of Anna Varrone; his wife of 57 years, and was a proud member of the Shelton community for 46 years.
Tony was born in Bronx, NY on August 14, 1931, son of the late Anthony and Jean (Demeo) Varrone. He was raised in Bridgeport and later had the distinction of serving with the US Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return from service, Tony was employed at Sikorsky Aircraft for 37 years until his retirement in 1993. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Tony is the adoring father of Mark Varrone and his wife Diane, and Michael Varrone and his wife Claudia, and the beloved grandfather of Craig and Bethany Varrone.
Friends may greet his family on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
