Antonio Civitella

Antonio Civitella, 79, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday evening August 8, 2014, in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Luigia Gina” Menicucci Civitella.

Mr. Civitella was born in Pontelatone, Caserta, Italy on November 8, 1934, son of the late Pasquale and Filomena Parillo Civitella. He was employed at Hull Dye in Derby, later Bic Corporation in Milford and retired as a custodian for the Derby Board of Education. Antonio enjoyed nine years of his retirement in Conway, SC and loved to vegetable garden and make wine.

In addition to his wife Gina, he is survived by a loving daughter, Filomena Zuba (Ronald) of Wallingford, a loving son, Pasquale J. Civitella (Nadine) of Ansonia, cherished grandchildren, Sara Zuba of New Haven, Angela, Antonio and Joseph Civitella of Ansonia, a brother, Valentino Civitella, three sisters, Francesca, Lucia, and Italia Civitella of Pontelatone, Caserta, Italy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Umberto Civitella.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday August 11, 2014, from 4 – 8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, his funeral will be held at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia. Entombment will take place in Mt. St. Peter’s Garden Mausoleum in Derby.
