Arthur C. Rider, age 94 of Venice, FL, and previously of Oxford, entered peaceful rest on Friday, May 19, 2023 in his home; he was the husband of the late Margaret Shirley (Neville) Rider. Born in Derby on November 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Mildred (Johns) Rider.
Arthur retired from the Kerite Co. as V.P. of Administration. He was an honorable Army veteran, serving during WWII. Arthur was deeply rooted in the Oxford community before moving to California and eventually Florida. He attended St. Thomas the Apostle Church and served on various valley boards and committees. Survivors include his loving daughter, Barbara Rider-Gervase and her husband Robert of FL; grandchildren, Denise Rider of Milford, Christopher Rider of Waterbury, John Kulas and his wife Michelle of FL, Mark Kulas and his wife Brittany of CT, and Nicolle Kulas and her husband Oscar of Spain; great-grandchildren, Justin, Rebecca, Avery, Giada, Nova, Belina Lishner, Roxxy, Leonardo, Margarita, Ludo Vico and Francesco, as well as his daughter-in-law, Cecelia Rider of Shelton. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Thomas Rider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on a date and time to be determined at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd. Oxford, CT 06478. Interment with full military honors will conclude in Mt. Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Arthur’s name can be made to St Thomas Church or Advinia Care at 950 Pine Brook Road, Venice Florida 34285.
