Barbara Ann Charles of Shelton, CT passed away on Thursday, August 4th at the age of 88.
She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 8, 1934, and was the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy Charles. She is survived by her caring sisters, Kathy Charles, Molly Frankie (Bill), Judy Compton, Joan Olsen (Kelly), Carrie Stone, and two children, Ronald Ferrari, and Barbara Meliso (Ralph), and her son-in-law, Chuck Owens.
She also leaves her grandchildren: Nathan Owens, Kyle Owens (Sarah), Jadyn Ulrich (Mike), Molly Stanley (Steven), and Anna Ferrari, her four great grandchildren: Kaitlyn Owens, Nathan Owens Jr., Amelia Owens, and Wyatt Owens, and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her two beloved children, Albert Ferrari and Mary Owens, her siblings Lois, Jim, Kenny and David, and the love of her life, William.
Anyone who interacted with Barbara was immediately pulled in by her nurturing and genuine spirit, and she would keep them in her prayers, which seemingly worked miracles. Her love of family, cooking, baking, and charismatic personality provided countless memories to all who were lucky enough to know her. Barbara was the unofficial guardian of Bishop Wicke, her home for the past 11 years, where she built meaningful relationships with the caring and compassionate staff and residents.
All who knew Barbara will remember her cheery disposition, quick wit, and endless inspiration. On Wednesday, friends may greet the family from 4 to 7 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Thursday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Joseph Church, 420 Coram Ave„ Shelton for her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM.
