Barbara Elizabeth Crotta, age 80, of Bethany, entered into rest surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Hospital of St. Raphael of New Haven.
She was born in West Haven on April 21, 1930, the beloved daughter of the late James E. and Thelma DuCharme Woodson. Barbara had been a Bethany resident since 1950, moving from West Haven and was an avid homemaker who loved to spend time with her family and many friends.
She loved playing cards, doing ceramics, playing bingo, photography, reading and traveling.
Barbara especially loved her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren and proudly enjoyed speaking with them about their many activities. She will be sadly missed by all.
Barbara’s loving family includes her sons Paul C. Crotta, III and his wife Janice of Bethany and Mark E. Crotta and his wife Josey of Bethany, her best friend Betty Christensen, her 8 cherished grandchildren and her 5 cherished great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Janice Peck and her former husband Paul C. Crotta, Jr.
A Funeral Service in Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, opposite Klarides Village) Seymour with the Rev. Peter Stebinger, Rector of the Christ Episcopal Church of Bethany, officiating.
Interment will follow in the family plot at Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the start of the service at 10 a.m.
