Barbara J. Snipes, of Ansonia, wife of the late John Snipes, passed away October 13, 2013 after a long Illness. Family and friends were at her side including her dogs Poppy and Toddy.
Barbara was born in Albany, N.Y. and was the daughter of James A. and Martha (Smith) Figner of Amsterdam, N.Y.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Tani of Ansonia, her Brother James Figner and his wife Eleanor of Tucson, AZ., Son-in-law Harold Gibbs of Ansonia, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her daughter Patricia Gibbs in 2011 and by brother William Figner and sisters, Ruth Lewis and Grace Mead.
She worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as a Software Project Supervisor for many years until her retirement on January 1, 1996. She supported many charities and non-profit organizations.
A memorial service will be held Saturday from 4 to 5 PM in the JAMES T. TOOHEY & SON FUNERAL HOME, 92 HOWE AVE., SHELTON. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffin Hospital Development Fund for 2 North, Breast Cancer Awareness through the funeral director.
