Barbara Jean Auscavitch, age 80, of Shelton, entered into rest on Wednesday, December 11,2013 with Charles G. Auscavitch, her devoted husband of 60 years, by her side.
Mrs. Auscavitch was born in Branford on March 23, 1933, daughter of the late John and Helen (Struzinski) Siwinski, and was a Shelton resident for most of her life. She was a telephone operator for the former B.F. Goodrich in Shelton and later for Black & Decker.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband, trips to the casino, and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Castaldi and her husband Don, and her son, Robert Auscavitch and his wife Colleen. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Castaldi and his wife Ashley, Steven Auscavitch, Eric Auscavitch, William Auscavitch, and Brendan Auscavitch, a brother John Siwinski and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kelly Nichole Castaldi, and her daughter-in-law Elena Auscavitch.
Mrs. Auscavitch’s family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. John Farens and his staff and Dr. Jain and the staff at the Smilow Cancer Center for the excellent care they provided.
Friends may greet her family on Saturday from 9 to 10 AM. At 10:15 AM her funeral procession will leave the funeral home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
