Barbara Napychank

Barbara Napychank, age 74, of Oxford entered into rest on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury. 

She was the wife of the late Andrew J. Napychank. Barbara was born in Derby on January 12, 1947, daughter of the late Aniello and Josephine (Gagliardi) Mauri. She was a Shelton resident before moving to Oxford in 1985. Barbara was an active member of Cornerstone Church in Oxford. She attended the Valley Academy of Hairdressing and Cosmetology and was a hair stylist for many years. After her years as a hair stylist she worked in hospitality at the Extended Stay in Shelton until her retirement. An avid cook, Barbara really enjoyed cooking, especially for others. She had a special love for birds, and fed many birds daily in her yard. Most of all, she cherished spending time with the Lord and with her family. 

She was the beloved mother of Steven (June) Walker, Jason (Shannon) Walker and Aaron (Diana) Walker and stepmother of Christina Napychank. Barbara was the cherished grandmother of Christian, Kellie, Steven, Jr., Jordan, Sydney, Jesse, Charlotte and Amelia Walker and step-grandmother of Duane Jones and was a great grandmother. She was the sister of Louis (Jill) Mauri, Joseph (Joan) Mauri and Samuel (Dena) Mauri. Barbara is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 


Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Family and friends are required to wear masks. On Wednesday, friends are invited to go directly to Cornerstone Church Oxford, 656 Oxford Rd., Oxford for her funeral service at 10 AM. Her burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
