Barbara Spetch Bodington of Windermere, Florida, formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 31st, at AdventHealth Hospital in Celebration, Florida, with her family by her side.
The family wishes to recognize the incredible care and compassion afforded by the nursing team during this time.
Barbara was the beloved wife of Scott Bodington for nearly 44 years. She was the loving mother of daughters Johanna Bodington and Caroline Bodington-Jones, son-in-law, Kevin Jones, and granddaughter Melanie Bodington. Born in Derby, Connecticut, and raised in Ansonia, she was the daughter of the late John Spetch and late Janet Janowski Spetch.
She lived her married life in Trumbull, and will be remembered by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Barb worked for the State of Connecticut and Connecticut National Bank before retiring to be at home with her daughters and granddaughter. Barb spent her retirement years volunteering extensively at her granddaughter’s school as a room mother and library aide, the latter capacity crediting her with hundreds of children’s book donations which developed an impressive catalog for the student body. She loved her time spent at her vacation home in Chatham, Cape Cod as well as weekend trips to the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Barb especially loved living in Central Florida, visiting the Walt Disney World Resort weekly. She also enjoyed her visits and dinners with Scott’s Aunt and Uncle, Janet and Robert Olah of Newtown.
The Baldwin-Fairchild funeral home in Winter Garden, Florida is entrusted with the arrangements. Services shall be private. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to celebrate Barbara’s life and accomplishments may make a donation in her memory to Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Florida via www.give.gktw.org.
