Barbara Yuravich, 93, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2014, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert J. Yuravich Sr.
Mrs. Yuravich was born in Witherbee, NY on Sept. 16, 1920, daughter of the late Tofil and Anna Aleksevich Griskewicz.
Barbara enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, crafting and spending time with her loving family. She was an active member of St. Anthony Church and was a devoted Eucharistic Adorer who prayed the Rosary daily. A lifelong learner, she completed college courses in her 60s, earning top marks.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church Ladies Guild, Catholic Daughters’ of America, Naugatuck Valley Catholic Council of Women, Valley Heart Club, Ansonia and Derby senior centers and proud volunteer at Griffin Hospital for more than 30 years.
She is survived by two loving sons, Albie Yuravich Jr. (Susan) of Naugatuck and Kenneth J. Yuravich (Diane) of Ansonia; a loving daughter Mary Celone of Orange; cherished grandchildren, Albie Yuravich III (Vicktoria) of Naugatuck, Christina and Cynthia Celone of Orange; nieces and nephews, Barbara and Victor Sierkowski of McKinney, Texas, Stanley and Mary Griskewicz of Madison and several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Griskewicz and sisters, Stella Klapcik and Mary “Rae” Tinti.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday January 6, 2014, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Tuesday, friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral at 9:15am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Church, 199 N. Main St., Ansonia. Interment will take place in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Silver Hill Road, Derby.
The family sends its most sincere thanks to her many devoted and helpful friends and neighbors.
