Beatrice A. Oleynik, 88 of Shelton, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015.
Beatrice was born on June 29, 1926 in Shelton, daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Zamecnik. She was the beloved and devoted wife of her husband of 60 years, Joseph W. Oleynik, DMD.
She graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, VA with a degree in Accounting and used that training to take an active role in her husband’s dental practice.
Her hobbies and passions included sewing, bird watching, photography, baking, family genealogy and gardening. A lifelong member of the Olde Ripton Garden Club, she especially enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements. She was a ferocious domino player and coach and no one could ever eat just one of her delicious baked treats, especially her “Raspberry Pizzas.”
She is preceded in death by her sister Lillian Zamecnik and her brother Frank Zamecnik. Along with her husband she is survived by her four children David (Leslie) of Derwood, MD; Ron (Nancie) of Arlington, VA; Ken (Joann) of Woodbridge, CT; Deb of Pacific Grove, CA; and her adored and much loved grandchildren Haley, Colleen, Shannon, Nina, Joseph and Ryan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Judy Zamecnik of Orange, CT as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at James T. Toohey and Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave, Shelton, CT on Monday, April 6, 2015, 5 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Church, 50 Fairmont Pl, Shelton, CT. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery, Derby.
