Beatrice Bousquet Diaz

Beatrice Bousquet Diaz of Shelton, daughter of the late Aldea and Frederick Bousquet, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012, surrounded by her loving family after a long struggle with multiple myeloma. She was born on October 27, 1940 and was 72 years old.

Beatrice was a retired nurse having worked in the areas of pediatrics, geriatrics, Otolaryngology, allergy and general medicine. She was an avid reader and collector of James Michener novels. She loved classical music, singing and sketching. She was especially interested in genealogy of her father’s, mother’s , and husband Victor’s family.

While the family history was recorded in the usual ways, she also recorded the information on three individual tablecloths all of which were hand embroidered. There were areas depicting signatures and denoting individual vocations, hobbies, and astrological signs. Another with signatures, hearts, flowers, butterflies, and special celebrations such as family reunions. The third follows a theme depicting family life, and home with names, birth dates, dates of marriage, etc. Each tablecloth depicts the nations of that family, such as France, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the USA, with reunions and special occasions depicted in a special way. Beatrice worked diligently on these projects especially during the long hours of Chemotherapy. Patients and hospital personnel referred to her as the sewing lady” , often coming to see the progression and sharing their family stories, which she enjoyed immensely. She was also involved with ceramics for many years, often firing her own pieces and having shows during the holidays.

She leaves her husband Victor and daughters and son-in-laws Theresa McGee Kinner and Ronald Kinner of Glastonbury, Victoria Diaz of Naugatuck, Maria and Douglas Wheeler and grandson Maxwell of Trumbull, and Ana Abramo of Shelton. She is also survived by her brothers Frederick Bousquet of Shelton, Arthur Bousquet and Carlene Avril of Florida and Roland and Susanne Bousquet of Maine, sisters Blanche Mierzejewski of Bridgeport and Bernadette Bousquet of Vermont, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Bertha Cormier.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Medical Specialist of Fairfield and St. Vincent Medical Center, CT Hospice, and nurses at Griffin Hospital.
