Bernard St. George

Bernard St. George, age 96, of Shelton passed from this world on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his home with his devoted and loving wife and family by his side. 

He was the faithful husband of 73 years to Marie Edith (Hammond) St. George. Bernard was born in Norwalk on September 4, 1924, son of the late Stephen and Jolan (Varga) St. George. He was a self employed Pipe Welder for many years before his retirement. Bernard proudly served as an Army Medic in WWII. He was a member of the Shelton Organ Club, and liked all things having to do with airplanes, US coins,and spent many hours putting together 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles.. He enjoyed traveling and outings with family and friends, and, most of all he loved spending time with his family. 

Bernard was the father of Brenda Gower and her husband David, Bernard St. George, Brian St. George and his wife Linda, and Christopher St. George and his wife Ann, and was the brother of Betty Murray. He was the grandfather of Randall and Russell Strong, Ryan, Kyle, Gerard, and Barrett St. George, Daniel St. George and Amanda Sheriden, Elysia St. George, and Adam and Katherine Gower. Bernard was also survived by 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He loved each and everyone of them in his own unique way. He was predeceased by a brother Stephen St. George and three sisters, Joan Lengyel, Mary Demague and Irene Daniska. 

Family and Friends are invited to a graveside service on Saturday, June 5th at 10:00 am at Lawn Cemetery, West, 24 Lane Street, Shelton. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 3 Lewis St., Norwalk CT 06851.
