Bernardino Urbano, age 87, entered eternal rest on June 28, 2025, at Griffin Hospital in Derby surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of Rosa Pacelli Urbano for 64 years.Born in Ruviano, Caserta, Italy on December 16, 1937, he was the son of the late Giacomo and Angela Califano Urbano. Bernard immigrated from Italy to the United States in 1966 to pursue his American dream with his wife and young son. Originally residing in Shelton until relocating to Seymour in 1970, where he lived for fifty-five years.
He was the president of Bernard Urbano and Sons Construction for many years until his retirement. Bernard loved to be surrounded by his family making lasting memories. He enjoyed vegetable gardening in his yard and making homemade wine, both of which he loved to share with family and friends.
He will be sadly missed but will remain in our hearts.In addition to his wife, Rosa, Bernard leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Giacomino “James” Urbano and his wife Gina of Seymour and Ferdinando “Fred” Urbano, M.D. and his wife Christina Urbano, D.P.M. of Bethany, brother, Alberto Urbano (Lina) of Ruviano, Caserta, Italy, grandchildren, Bernardino Urbano (Taylor) of Northfield, Gabriella Urbano of Bethany, and Jamie Urbano of Bethany along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Antonio, Orlando, Francesco, Salvatore and Armando Urbano and sisters, Filomena, and Ernestina as well as his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Aldo and Rena Pacelli. Other family members he leaves behind are his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mario and Annunziata “Nancy” Mastrioanni, Alberto and Mariavittoria Pacelli.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:30 am in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. His funeral will then proceed to St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Avenue in Seymour for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am.
