Betty Jane O’Connor Stankye of Huntington, CT entered into rest in her home on December 14, 2012. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, after a short illness.
Betty was born on June 6, 1925 in Saunemin, IL, the daughter of the late Margaret and Gordon Wrey. She enjoyed cooking, needlework , travel, and family. After raising her children, she spent many years in retail, a career that she especially enjoyed.
Betty is survived by her loving husband William J. Stankye, her son Gregory Ward, and his wife Darcy, of Guilford, and her daughter Deborah O’Connor Mastri of Stratford. She also leaves two grandchildren, Gregory William Ward, and his wife Jacqueline of West Orange, NJ, and Kristina Jenkins and her husband Jim of Yarmouth, ME, and 5 cherished great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Helen Louise Badasarian of Bedford, MA, Dorothy Courtier of Wheaton, IL and Doris Mae Lighty of Saunemin,IL.
She was predeceased by husbands Donald Ward, and William O’Connor, her son Russell Ward , daughter-in-law Jeanne Ward, son-in-law Leonard Mastri, and brother Glenn Wrey.
