Beverly K. Douglas, age 92 of Canterbury, previously of Shelton and Clearwater, FL, passed away July 23, 2024 at William Backus Hospital, Norwich.
She was born in Bridgeport, July 8, 1932, daughter of the late George J. and Mae A. Williams Knox. She worked as a bookkeeper for Roberk and later Tetley until her retirement.
She was a past member of Order of Eastern Star, and the Connecticut Council of Girl Scouts where she served as the Service Unit Chairman for six years. She was also a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 238 of Safety Harbor, FL where she was Auxiliary Chaplin for six years.
She is survived by her children Daniel J. Douglas, and Jacqueline J. Douglas (Peter Jordan), her grandchildren Zachary, Estella, and Benjamin Douglas and Jack and Tyler Jordan, her brother George H. Knox, her sister Georgette Finlay, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Douglas, her sisters Vivien Underhill, Ruth Blake, and Gloria Corbit, and her companion of many years John M. Gerle.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4PM to 7PM at the James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11AM in the funeral home with Rev. Peggy Yingst officiating. Interment will follow at Huntington Lawn Cemetery, Shelton.
