Birute Kazlauskas, 81, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2017, at Yale-New Haven Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of sixty years to Leon P. Kazlauskas.
Mrs. Kazlauskas was born in Jurbarkas, Lithuania on Nov. 15, 1935, daughter of the late John and Emma Borman Bytautas. A resident of Ansonia since 1959, she was employed in the cafeteria at Amity High School for twenty years until her retirement. Birute was known for her beautiful flower gardens and loved to feed and attract different birds to her yard, especially hummingbirds.
In addition to her husband Leon, she is survived by sons, Leon A. Kazlauskas (Deborah) of Oxford, Andrew J. Kazlauskas of Trumbull, Lawrence C. Kazlauskas of Ansonia and Gregory P. Kazlauskas (Melissa) of Shelton, grandchildren, Kristofer, Ryan, Candice, Melanie, Zakary and Matthew Kazlauskas and Kayla Liggins, brothers, Vinny and Peter Bytautas of FL and Paul Bytautas of Oakville, sisters, Ella Fleming of Watertown and Bernadette Hunt of FL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Albert and Walter Bytautas and sisters, Ruth Androwski, Herta DellaRosa and Rita Miseimis.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday July 5, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 10:30 am, a funeral service and celebration of Birute’s life will take place in the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Krugel, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
