Bogdan Zawojski, age 75, beloved husband of Regina Lupinska Zawojska of Derby, died peacefully on September 21, 2024 at Griffin Hospital with his family by his side. Born on August 7, 1949, he was the son of the late Antoni and Janina Zawadzka.
Mr. Zawojski immigrated to the United States in 1992 and settled in Shelton before moving to Derby in 1997. He worked as a welder for the Magna Steel Co. of Beacon Falls, for over 20 years, until the time of his retirement in 2014. He was a member of St. Michael Church, Derby and was an avid lifelong fisherman, spending countless hours on the riverbanks and lakes of Poland and CT.
He will be long remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by his devoted children, Jacek Zawojski and his wife Alina of Derby, Marcin Zawojski of Poland and Anna Wypasek and her husband, Waclaw of Oxford; cherished grandchildren, Michal Zawojski of Derby and Julia & Gabriella Wypasek of Oxford; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by a sister, Bozenna Piotrowska and brother, Jan Zawojski. Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial, meeting directly at church, will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024, in St. Michael Church, 75 Derby Avenue, Derby.
