Brian D. McGowan, age 72, of Seymour, entered into rest on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He is the beloved husband of 45 years to Darlene (Hyman) McGowan. Brian was born in Derby on June 15, 1952, son of the late William Hugh and Marion (Warren) McGowan, and lived in Seymour for 23 years.
Brian was a graduate of Ansonia High School, class of 1970 and earned his Bachelor degree from Sacred Heart University,Fairfield. He worked for 30 plus years for Sikorsky Aircraft as a subcontract administrator before his retirement. Brian enjoyed photography and astronomy and he was an avid Jeopardy fan. He loved to travel, especially taking family trips to Cape Cod, driving around in his Jaguar, and listening to all kinds of music.
He is the beloved father of Meghan McGowan and Erin McGowan (Kevin Ruopp) , and proud grandfather of Revy and Victoria Ruopp. He is also survived by his siblings William McGowan and his wife Madlyn and Maureen McGowan Schwartz and her husband Kenneth, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved puppy Delilah.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday March 14 from 3 PM to 6 PM in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd. Shelton. Burial will be private.
