Bruce W. Matto

Bruce W. Matto, age 57, of Shelton entered into rest on Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. Vincent’s Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Derby, on September 13, 1956, son of Ralph J. Matto, of Shelton, and the late Betty-Jo (Johnson) Matto and was a lifelong Shelton resident. Bruce was a self-employed Master Stair Builder who took pride in his workmanship and excelled at whatever he put his mind to. Bruce was a graduate of Shelton High School,and attended Central Connecticut State College. He was a predominate member of the King Hiram Lodge #12 AF&AM Masonic Lodge in Shelton. Bruce also helped in renovating St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton. Bruce loved to play the piano and watch black and white movies. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, friends and his two German Shepherds, Gina and Rycher.

Bruce is the loving father of Stephanie Matto, caring step-father of Nicholas Ritchitelli, brother of Joseph, Richard and Marc Matto and step-son of Elaine Matto. He is also survived by his former wives, Madga Ballaro and Darlene Matto and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call on Monday from 3-7 pm at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. On Tuesday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Joseph Church, 424 Coram Ave., Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. His burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery Derby.
