Carlos A. Estrella, Sr., age 82, of Ansonia, entered into rest on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Griffin Hospital in Derby. He is the beloved husband of 50 years to Mildred (Barton) Estrella. Carlos was born in Ecuador on October 17, 1942, son of the late Rosendo and Dolores (Garzon) Estrella, and lived in Ansonia for 28 years.
He served in the military as a young man in Ecuador, and worked as a truck driver up until his retirement. Carlos was an avid soccer enthusiast and enjoyed playing and enthusiastically watching. He also enjoyed Ecuadorian volleyball. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
He is the beloved father of Dolores Muniz (Harry Jr.), Carlos A. Estrella, Jr. (Jennifer), and William Jennings, cherished grandfather of Anthony Estrella (Bianca), Alex Hernandez, Alyssa Estrella, Ariela Basuljevic, Billy Jennings, and Brian Jennings, and proud great-grandfather of Ezekiel Estrella. He is also survived by two brothers, Julio and Bolivar Estrella, three sisters, Cecilia Villacis, Olimpia Balseca, and Mercedes Estrella, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Edwards Jennings, a brother, Antonio Oñate, and a sister, Lelia Garzon.
Friends may greet the family at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 pm. His funeral service will follow in the parlor at 7:00 PM.
Memorial contributions are requested by the family to the Smilow Cancer Center.
