Carmela N. Pietrangelo, age 104, of Ansonia, entered into eternal rest on January 9, 2013, at Birmingham Health Care in Derby. She was the wife of the late Pasquale Pietrangelo.
Mrs. Pietrangelo was born in Ansonia on Feb. 13, 1908, daughter of the late Alfredo and Marianne Montelbano Romano. A resident of Ansonia for most of her life, she was devoted to her family. She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, being a member of its Rosary Guild and St. Ann’s Society. She was also a member of the Ansonia Senior Center and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by her loving son, Pasquale M. Pietrangelo of Ansonia, 2 cherished granddaughters, Mary-Jo Lucke (Paul) of Ansonia and Patricia Ryan (Gerald) of Odessa, FL, 3 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, especially Joseph Lembo and Deacon Victor Lembo and their families. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Josephine Pietrangelo, brothers, Raymond, Salvatore, Michael, Peter, and Joseph Romano and sisters, Amelia Mezzatesta and Antoinette Lembo.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday Jan. 11, 2013, from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Saturday, relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at 10:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia.
