Carmella “Millie” Culmo, 86, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 21, 2013, at Emeritus of Woodbridge.
Millie was born in Ansonia on January 5, 1927, daughter of the late Angelo and Lillian Mezzatesta Culmo.
A lifelong resident of Ansonia, she was the owner of the original Millie’s Luncheonette on Main Street in Ansonia for 19 years.
Previously, she was employed at the former Theresa’s Dress Shop in Ansonia.
Millie was an aunt and friend to all who knew her, especially her high school patrons during the 1960s and 1970s.
She loved life, the beach in Milford, traveling and spending winters in Florida. She would never refuse an invitation to visit the casino or the track. We will truly miss her and thank her for being “Our Millie.”
She is survived by 2 sisters, Constance Kolakowski of Ansonia and Patricia Kwalek (Gene) of Shelton, 3 brothers, James Culmo (Irene) of Miami, FL, Angelo Culmo of CT and Eric Culmo of FL, loving nieces and nephews, Robert “BoBo” Kolakowski, Karen Salisbury (Kent), Tara Kolakowski, Fred Kolakowski Jr., Amy Landrau (Carlos), Christine, Carlene, and Eric Culmo, Elaine Cretella, Kathy Cirulnick, Jennifer Nelson (Erik), Angelo Culmo (Meghan), Rob Kwalek, Tracy Regan (Chris), James Kwalek (Shelley), brother Sam’s children in Texas, Becky, Lauren, Nancy, Mark and Matthew, brother Jim’s children in Florida, Cindy, Tom, Nancy, and Amy, and numerous great nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Robert “Pudgie” Kolakowski, sister-in-law, Katherine Culmo, and beloved nephew, Fred G. Kolakowski.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday February 24, 2013, from 2 – 6 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
On Monday, relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral at 9:15 am from the funeral home or at 10 a.m. directly at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
Interment will follow in the family plot in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby.
