Carol (Barbour) Stec

Our dear mother Carol (Barbour) Stec passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8th, at the age of 75 after a beautifully lived life. Carol Jane was born on December 16 in Waterbury, CT to the late Joseph and Ruth Draugelis. She graduated from Ansonia High School in 1966 and completed Yale School of Diagnostic Imaging followed by her career at Yale New Haven Hospital for over 47 years.

Family was the most important thing to Carol, and her dedication to them was witnessed everyday by those around her. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when needed the most, offering support, wisdom, and love. She loved going to her granddaughter’s soccer games and dance recitals, and was always cheering her on. She found peace, quiet and relaxation, sitting on our deck in Jamestown, RI with her husband, sipping her coffee and chatting with fellow campers.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her mother in law Ann Stec. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years David, daughter Kristin, son David and his wife Tania, precious granddaughter Victoria, brothers Robert, Ricky and Kevin, brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, best friend Beverly Polance and many countless friends who felt her warmth and generosity.

Carol’s life can best be shared by five F” words: Family, Friends, Flowers, Food and Fun. In her 75 years with us she experienced an abundance of each. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her.

To commemorate her incredible journey and to celebrate the love she spread, a memorial service and calling hours will be held in her honor at Jenkin-King funeral home in Ansonia on Wednesday, June 12th from 4 – 7 pm. We invite all who knew her to join us in remembering a truly remarkable woman. Burial will be private.
