Carolyn (Carature) Koval, age 77, entered eternal rest in the early morning hours of July 2, 2025, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of fifty-eight years to John A. Koval.Born in Derby on September 10, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia Kross Carature. Carolyn was a 1966 graduate of Ansonia High School then went on to attend the Yale School of Nursing.
She was employed for twenty years as an LPN in the cardiology department of Danbury Hospital.
Carolyn was a talented artist who enjoyed painting. She was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd (St. Nicholas Parish) in Seymour where she was proud to serve as an Extraordinary Minister.
Carolyn’s favorite place to be was at the family cottage on Lake Zoar affectionately known as “Papa’s place.”In addition to her husband John, Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Kimberly K. Rauch (Stephen) of Southington and Carrie L. Koval-Burt (Thomas) of Mamaroneck, NY, she was a proud “Mamma” to grandchildren, Caylin Raju (Marlon) of New Britain, Jonathan Rauch (fiancé Megan Sheridan) of Monroe, Alexander Burt, Lucas Burt, and Chloe Burt of Mamaroneck, NY, great-grandchildren, Cora, and Nile Raju along with several in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Per Carolyn’s request, her funeral service and inurnment in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Ansonia will be private.
