Catherine B. Leggio, 94, peacefully entered into eternal rest on December 13, 2014, at Shelton Lakes Health Care.
Mrs. Leggio was born in Derby on December 9, 1920, daughter of the late Louis and Lucy Carmasino Chevarella. She was a resident of Ansonia for most of her life before moving to Shelton Lakes six years ago. Catherine was employed at the former H.C. Cook Co. in Ansonia for many years and volunteered at Griffin Hospital. She was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church and enjoyed spending time with and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving family including, two sons, Lawrence Leggio Jr. of Oxford and Robert Leggio (Romaine) of Seymour, two daughters, Joan A. Watton (Frederick) of Oxford and Darlene Macek (Stanley) of Derby, a sister, Lucy Cerniglia of VT, 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and Peter Chevarella and a sister, Mary Cannici.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 16, 2014, from 5 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Wednesday, her funeral will be held at 9:15 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. Entombment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Mausoleum in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Church Organ Restoration Fund through the funeral home.
