Cecelia Sroka

Cecelia Sroka, age 99, peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 6, 2018, at Atria Larson Place in Hamden. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Sroka. 

Mrs. Sroka was born in Ansonia on Nov. 20, 1918, daughter of the late Walter and Bertha Dugolecki. She grew up in Ansonia and lived Derby since marriage. She was employed as an Inspector at the former B.F. Goodrich in Shelton for many years. Cecelia was a charter member of the Paugassett Hook & Ladder Women’s Auxiliary, a member of the C.W.V. Women’s Auxiliary and Polish Falcons Nest 208 all in Derby. She enjoyed cooking for her family and sewing.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving son, John S. Sroka (Charlotte) of Hamden, loving daughters, Cecilia J. Krohelski (Leonard) of Seymour and Regina L. Gibson of Wallingford, a sister, Stella Slusarski of Shelton, eight cherished grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Edward R. Sroka, brothers, Walter, Theodore and Benjamin Dugolecki and sisters, Leda Bialek, Sophie Soldra, Harriet Turrill and Helen Wojcik. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday April 11, 2018, from 10:30 am until 11:30 am in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church in Derby at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Derby. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 75 Derby Ave., Derby, CT 06418.
