Charles Moore Sr., age 81, of West Haven, entered into eternal life to be with the Lord July 27, 2011.
He was born November 9, 1929 in New York City to the late Nathaniel Moore & Anna Kenley. Charles graduated from Ansonia High School, Class of 1949. He received his honorable discharge as Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and retired from U.S.P.S. after dedicating 30 years of service in 1986.
He leaves to cherish his memory his two sons Charles Moore Jr. (Victoria) of Meriden and Jerome Moore Sr. (Estavia) of Hamden; step daughters Donna and Tracey of New Haven, siblings Arthur Moore and Ruth Anderson of New York City; grandchildren Charles III (Shameka) of Texas, Parris, Ashlei, Steven and Rome Moore and Mahogany, Taylor & Paige, all of New Haven; great grandchildren, Charles IV & Madison of Texas and Skye Williams of New Haven, special cousin, Clarence Beal; beloved friend, Audrey Savage; and a host of other relatives & friends. Charles was predeceased by siblings James Moore, Billy and Henry Bronson and grandson Jerome Moore Jr.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. at The Varick Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church 242 Dixwell Ave. New Haven. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia.
