Charles P. Delvaille III, age 55, went home to the Most High God on May 27, 2022.
Charles was born in Derby, on April 26, 1967, son of Charles P. and Sandra Mason Delvaille Jr. He attended Derby High School for three years then transferred in his senior year to Ansonia High School where he graduated. After graduation, Charles enlisted in the United States Air Force where his tours included, Saudi Arabia, Korea and South Korea. He was recognized for his honorable service with the following: Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two devices, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with one device, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with one device, Air Force Longevity Service Award with one device, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. While stationed in Medina Texas, Charles volunteered at soup kitchens, building playgrounds for kids and cleaning senior resident’s yards. Following his years of service, Charles enjoyed a career as a tractor trailer driver for the United States Postal Service, until his retirement. He enjoyed getting his hands dirty and working on fleets of old cars, which was a skill he learned from his father. Charles would always attend car shows in the area and especially loved his vintage 1970’s Dodge Challenger. In his younger years, Charles enjoyed building and painting toy model cars and battle ships. He was also a member of the Cub Scouts where his mom served as his Den Mother. Charles looked forward to annual family road trips, especially to New Orleans to visit family. He loved summers with family cookouts, trips to the zoo, museums and amusement parks.
In addition to his parents, Charles Jr. and Sandra, Charles leaves to cherish his memory, a sister, Casondra Delvaille of Middletown, nephews, Taj, Silas V and Nas Wilson of Middletown, aunts, Vera Williams of New Orleans, LA, Geraldine Soublet of Seymour, uncles, Huey Young of Naugatuck and Scott Tyson of New Haven, cousins, Angela Young of Burbank, CA, Schronda Bostic of Ansonia, Huey Young of Prospect, Charlotte Delvaille of Cheshire, Nichell Delvaille of Florida, Erica Zauner of Cheshire, Danny Barnes of New Haven, Denise Boyd of New Haven, Paula Barnes of New Haven, Keith Delvaille of Harker Heights, TX and Jesse Green of Atlanta, GA. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Althea Tyson and Leaster Mason, paternal grandparents, Vera and Charles Delvaille Sr., aunts and uncle, Joyce Slaughter and Diane and George Delvaille and a cousin, Joyce Delvaille.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 11:00 am to 12:15 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 12:15 pm, a service in celebration of Charles’s life will take place at the funeral home. Interment with United States Air Force military honors will follow at 2:00 pm in the State of Connecticut Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane in Middletown.
