Charles T. “Corky” Corcoran Sr.

Charles T. Corky” Corcoran Sr. age 77 of Titusville, Florida passed away on December 15, 2019. Corky was the beloved husband of Denise Remus Corcoran. He was born on February 10, 1942 in Derby, son of late Charles and Kathryn Van Etten Corcoran. 

Corky attended Derby public schools and Mattatuck Community College. He was a Lieutenant (retired) from Derby Police Dept. after 28 years. Corky was employed for a number of years by Security Services of CT as Chief of Security at Farrel’s in Ansonia. 

He also started and ran his own landscaping and paving company in Derby, C. Corcoran & Sons. Once retired, Corky was a truck driver for Goodson Paving in Cocoa, FL. While residing in Derby, he was past Captain of the Storm Engine Co. and member of the Paugassett Hook & Ladder Co. as well as a member of AM Men’s Club in Derby. Corky was a Trustee of the Titusville Elks Lodge 2113 of FL. He was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and, after retiring to FL, of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Titusville.

Besides his wife, Corky is survived by daughter Colleen Sciarretti (Albert), sons Kerry Corcoran (Martii Woder), Keith Corcoran (Melissa) and predeceased by his son Charles Corcoran Jr. 

He leaves behind his sister Patti Corcoran and Kathy Shanahan (Jim). And was Grandpa Corky to Vincent and Kayla Sciarretti, Michael (Heather), Dana, Scott and Carrie Rose Corcoran, Elizabeth Woder-Winnie and Jordan and Matthew Corcoran. He will be forever remembered by several nieces and nephews. Corky is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Beattie.

Friends may call on Friday, January 10th from 3 to 7 pm at the Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home, 253 Elizabeth St., Derby. 

On Saturday, January 11th his funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10 am for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Mary Church.
