Charles W. Christensen, Sr., age 82, beloved husband of the late Marian (Macknis) Christensen, entered peaceful rest on Friday, April 8, 2022 in Griffin Hospital.
Born in Waterbury on June 28, 1939, he was a son of the late Stian and Eleanor (McGinley) Christensen.
A Veteran of the National Guard, Charles was a retired truck driver for American Brass. He had a passion for antique cars, including his ’49 Ford Coupe, and enjoyed cruising the country alongside his adored wife, Marian. Family was most important to Charles, especially spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he will be fondly remembered for his incredible talent to soothe a baby.
Survivors include his loving children, Marian Boffen of Naugatuck, Carolyn Deptula of MA, Charles Christensen, Jr. and his wife Jeannine of Oxford, Elaine DeLillo of Hamden, and Lee Ives and her husband David of Oxford; siblings, John Christensen of Cheshire, and Eleanor Kotenski of Oxford; as well as 12 loved grandchildren, 7 cherished great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was predeceased by his brother, Stian Christensen. Interment with full military honors will take place on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 1 p.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Oxford.
