Chiarina M. “Corrine” Albanese, 95, of Derby, entered into peaceful rest on Monday May 9, 2011, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Angelo Albanese.
Mrs. Albanese was born in Derby on Sept. 9, 1915, daughter of the late Carmine DeMelis and Maria Gianpoalo DeMelis Gantomasso. A lifelong resident of Derby, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Derby and a member of all the Valley Senior Centers. She also volunteered for over 40 years at the former Derby Nursing Home.
She is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Guido DeMelis, a step-brother, Thomas Gantomasso, and a step-sister, Lena Ezzo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday May 11, 2011, at 12:00 Noon at St. Mary’s Church in Derby for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery in Derby. Visiting hours will be held on WEDNESDAY MORNING from 10:00 am until the procession leaves for church at the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia.
