Christine Grinchis, 90, of Woodbridge, entered into eternal rest on July 31, 2014, at Griffin Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Grinchis.
Mrs. Grinchis was born in Derby on December 7, 1923, daughter of the late Lorie and Anna Vitello Vaccaro. A resident of Woodbridge for 22 years, she previously resided in Shelton.
She graduated from Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing, worked as a Registered Nurse at Bridgeport Hospital and later returned to help with her family’s restaurant, the former Lorie’s Restaurant in Derby. Christine was also a partner in the former Grinmore Real Estate Agency in Derby and was a very talented woman who enjoyed playing the violin and dancing.
She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Mary Ann Tyma (Alan) of Woodbridge, a sister, Rosemarie Moore (Jack) of Derby, two cherished grandchildren, Christiana Aronson (Brian) of Ansonia and Brendan Tyma (Amanda) of Woodbridge, five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Hayleigh, Ethan, Benjamin, Emmett and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Ronald “Bunny” Vaccaro and a sister, Anna May Smith.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 3, 2014, from 4 – 7 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, her funeral will be held at 9:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church in Shelton. Interment will take place in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery in Derby.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Christine’s memory may be made to the Valley Community Foundation through the funeral home.
