Christine H. (Zasun) Szwaba

NAUGATUCK: Christine H. (Zasun) Szwaba, age 77, entered eternal rest on May 3, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

She was the beloved wife of fifty years to the late Zenon Szwaba, who recently passed on February 19, 2025.Born in England on January 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Antoni and Sophia Solima Zasun. Christine grew up in Seymour and spent the past forty-seven years residing in Naugatuck. She was employed as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration in Ansonia for thirty years until her retirement. 

Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and making memories was most important to Christine, she always put them first. She had a kind heart and never forgot to send a birthday card to everyone she loved. Christine was an avid reader and enjoyed taking time visiting different libraries. 

She also liked polka dancing, word jumbles and watching UCONN women’s basketball. Christine loved spending time outdoors, especially relaxing by her pool or taking long car rides with her late husband Zenon.

Christine leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Marc P. Szwaba (Stacy Stieber) of Waterbury and Donald A. Szwaba (Jennifer Carey) of Fairfield, a daughter, Grace A. Szwaba of Southington, sisters, Diane Kuzma of Beacon Falls and Julie D’Onofrio (Pat) of Shelton, sister-in-law, Aniela Szwaba of Naugatuck, grandchildren, Vanessa Tischofer, Darin Levesque, Rylan J. Szwaba, Crew Szwaba and Van Szwaba along with several nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her brother, Anthony Zasun, brother-in-law, Stanley Kuzma and sister-in-law, Anna Szwaba.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. 

On Friday morning at 11:00 am, all are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial by meeting directly at St. Joseph Church, 32 Jewett Street in Ansonia.
