Clara J. Amodio

Clara J. (Furfaro) Amodio, age 105, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 22, 2017, just one week short of her 106th birthday, in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Jacksonville, FL. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Amodio Sr.

Mrs. Amodio was born in Reggio diCalabria, Italy on July 29, 1911, daughter of the late Francesco and Giovanna Calipa Furfaro. She resided most of her life in Seymour, her last residence being the Callahan House, before moving to Florida in 2012. Clara was employed as a seamstress at the former Unity Shirt in Shelton and later at the former Berger Brothers in New Haven. 

She is survived by a loving and devoted daughter, Madelyn Burrows of Jacksonville, FL, daughter-in-law, Evelyn Amodio of Shelton, cherished grandchildren, Michael, Sheree and Kelly Pivola of Jacksonville, FL, Gina Rosado (Frank) of Milford, Marisa Amodio of Shelton and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara was the last of twelve siblings in the Furfaro family. She was predeceased by a son, Ralph Amodio Jr., brothers, Vincent, Milton, Joseph, Antonio, Frank and Dominick Furfaro and sisters, Jennie Furfaro, Theresa Moslowitz, Ann Torwich, Angelina Conti and Frances Tuckett. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Monday July 31, 2017, at 11:00 am, meeting directly at Mt. St. Peter’s Cemetery Chapel, 219 New Haven Avenue in Derby. There will be no visiting hours. The SPINELLI-RICCIUTI/BEDNAR-OSIECKI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia has been privileged with the arrangements.
